I’ll Not Rest Till Ikwuano Gets Her Rights… Rep Aguocha
…Set To Relocate FMC To Ikwuano
…Declares 200 Annual Educational Scholarship Palliative For Constituents

The member representing Ikwuano, Umuahia North, and South Federal Constituency of Abia State, Rt. Hon. Obi Aguocha has vowed to stop at nothing in his efforts to ensure that through efficient representation, attract, execute viable and monumental projects in Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State as a part of his constituency obligations.

The Legislator who has been at the forefront in the struggle to accelerate the Council’s development from an age long marginalisation insisted that Ikwuano as a prominent Council, deserved monumental projects proportionate to her value in the State.

Aguocha, who has overtime not dissembled his sincere desire to ensure that the local government, predominantly agrarians, have adequate government presence, pledged his unflinching cooperation to elevate Ikwuano to enviable heights.

Rep. Aguocha stated this over the weekend, at Ikwuano Local Government Council grounds, during the ‘Thanksgiving service’ for the Affirmation of the Governor, Dr Otti’s Mandate and continued Success held by the Mayor of the Council, Osinachi Nwaka.

While commending the people of the Council for unalloyedly supporting the Mayor, he prided in the emergence of the latter as the Council’s Boss and the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, and described them as partners who share in his views as it regards the urgent need to develop the Ikwuano Local Government Area.

In his words:
“I will not rest till Ikwuano acquires her deserved massive development as one of the prominent local governments in Abia state.”

“I’m very happy to have found partners for the accelerated development of Ikwuano, that this is the first of its kind in Ikwuano and that shows that truly when you put the right people in authority, the people rejoice.

“And I’m prayerful that within the next few months Ikwuano could be a come and see place, just like in the Bible, that we’ve already started in that march, that Ikwuano should expect nothing less than my full cooperation”, he assured.

“The accelerated development of Ikwuano is non-negotiable, and I’m glad that I have found two development partners that share the same view with me. One is Dr Alex Otti, the Executive Governor of Abia State and Osinachi Nwaka, they share the same view and they are all in a hurry to ensure that Ikwuano is developed”.

The Ogwumabiri of Umuahia in his remarks, announced a yearly educational scholarship palliative from primary school to tertiary level, for 200 indigenes of the federal constituency, wherein Ikwuano would have not fewer than 65 opportunities.

“My office has resolved to give scholarships to 200 indigenes of this constituency, which will run from primary school to tertiary level. That means that when divided, 65 opportunities go to Ikwuano, and this is ongoing right now.

“Also, all of our widows, my mother was once a widow and I saw her suffering despite my contributions as a man; I watched her weep and I promised God that if I am privileged to be in a position, I’ll help the widows.

“So, by next month, February, we’ll be flagging off a widow’s initiative scheme, through which we’ll be helping them monthly to improve their lives. Then, all our men of God, despite their denominations, will receive stipends monthly, too, in order to help elevate their welfare and wellbeing.

He, however, decried the absence of a functional government hospital in the area, but disclosed that the once the famous Federal Medical Centre (FMC), situated at Umuahia, the State’s capital is upgraded to a medical teaching hospital. Then, it is only logical that FMC should be relocated to Ikwuano in a fraction of time.

Hear him: “FMC Umuahia is being upgraded to a medical Teaching Hospital, that means that the current FMC, we’ll not lose it, but should be sited at Ikwuano. Ikwuano must have that FMC. Because it’s evil to say that when you move from Ariam-Usaka to Umuariaga, there’s no functional hospital for the rest of Ikwuano; both in life and death, you’ll run to Umuahia and we need to stop that in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Among other projects proposed to be executed by Aguocha were the plan to split the Council into two local governments through an amendment to the constitution, the environmental remediation, especially for Ibere-nta erosion and the popular Amawom-Ihim Road.

Meanwhile, Aguocha, in the course of the event, made a generous cash donation of a total sum of #2.5million naira, to the success of the event, which was split thus:

A total of #500k for the traditional rulers present at the occasion; #1,000,000m for the ten (10) political wards in the Council, (#100k for each of the wards present; #500k for strategic stakeholders present at the event. #200k donated to Miss Amarachi Mark, the world’s best Para Power Lifter, a young lady with disability from Usaka-Eleogu; 100 thousand for each of the blind and crippled special citizens, respectively, from the Council; and #100k for an anonymous individual for his outstanding contribution in the Council.

He used the medium to appeal to the people and Ndigbo all over the world to pray earnestly for the unconditional release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), who has been incarcerated by the Nigerian government, since June 19, 2021.

Speaking, he said: “I’ll keep saying it and will never be shut down, because Nnamdi is my Constituent, he’s from Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency and it’s my responsibility to defend his dignity and human rights. And in whatsoever we do here today, everybody should pray for that young man. Our prayer should be, whatever hand that’s holding him, starting from February, he must be released, in Jesus’ name.
