“Hon. Mark Ugorji has declared his intention to represent Ikwuano/Umuahia North and South Federal Constituency in Abia State, citing over 15 years of political ambition and grassroots involvement. He criticized the current lawmaker, Hon. Obi Aguocha for “poor performance” and lack of constituency projects, promising effective representation, empowerment, and development if elected.”

Hon. (Sir) Mark Ugorji has formally declared his intention to contest for the Ikwuano/Umuahia North and South Federal Constituency seat in Abia State under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking in an interview with FamousReporters.com at his country home in Olokoro Ukwu, Umuahia South Local Government Area, shortly after officially declaring his intentions at the party secretariat, at the APC secretariat in Ubakala, Ugorji reiterated his readiness and willingness to make his constituents proud.
Declaring his ambition, Ugorji said, “I want to represent my people of Ikwuano/Umuahia North and South Federal Constituency at the National Assembly.”

He revealed that his aspiration was not sudden but a long-standing vision. According to him, “It’s a long-term dream I have nurtured for over 10 to 15 years. During this period, I have remained actively involved in grassroots political development from the ward level upward.”
Taking a swipe at the incumbent lawmaker, Hon. Obi Aguocha, of the Labour Party, Ugorji questioned his performance and impact on constituents.
He stated, “What determines whether a person remains in office is performance, capacity, and pedigree. Unfortunately, the current representative has not performed expectations.”
Continuing, Ugorji further alleged a lack of visible constituency projects and benefits to the people.
“We expect constituency projects and dividends of democracy, but none can be clearly pointed to—no roads, no electricity projects, no meaningful empowerment. Even employment opportunities in parastatals and paramilitary agencies have not reached our people,” he said.
He also criticized what he described as poor accessibility and engagement by the current officeholder.

“People travel long distances to seek help but return disappointed. Representation is not just about occupying the office; it’s about impacting lives and being accessible,” Ugorji added.
Positioning himself as a credible alternative, Ugorji promised to prioritize empowerment, infrastructure, and inclusive governance.
“I am the candidate the people need. I will provide proper representation and ensure that the benefits from the National Assembly reach every part of our constituency,” he assured.
Highlighting his philanthropic track record, he noted that his commitment to community service predates his political ambition.
“I am known for my philanthropy. I have consistently supported my people, and with a national platform, I will do even more to drive development,” he said.
On the uncertainty of electoral loyalty, Ugorji acknowledged the unpredictable nature of politics.
“You cannot fully predict people’s decisions, but I remain confident that those who believe in genuine service will support this vision,” he concluded.
