Ikwuano Deserves Better: Why the People Must Reject Poor Representation in 2027 *’No longer a square peg in a round hole’

As 2027 approaches, Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State remains underrepresented. This article calls on Ndi Ikwuano to demand visionary leadership and reject poor representation in the upcoming elections.

As the 2027 general elections draw closer, one issue has become glaring in Abia State — Ikwuano Local Government Area remains grossly underrepresented in the Abia State House of Assembly. Once hailed as “the food basket of Abia State,” Ikwuano’s agricultural potential and industrious spirit have long been overshadowed by poor representation and unfulfilled promises.

For years, the good people of Ikwuano have waited for tangible progress — infrastructural development, youth empowerment, and meaningful engagement — yet, those hopes have been met with silence. Sadly, the current occupant of the seat, Hon. Boniface Isienyi, has proven to be a square peg in a round hole, overwhelmed by the responsibilities of his office and visibly lacking in innovative ideas or legislative direction.

“And from inception, it is evident that the people of Ikwuano may now regret entrusting their mandate to a representative who has remained largely inactive in the House of Assembly.”

To say that Engr. Isienyi has failed to make an impact would be an understatement. His tenure has left the constituency invisible in state affairs, and his inability to connect with the grassroots has become a source of frustration among constituents. One wonders what motivates his decision to seek re-election — perhaps he assumes that Ikwuano people, known for their intelligence and discernment, will continue to tolerate mediocrity. But times have changed.

The people of Ikwuano can no longer afford representation that exists only in name. They deserve a leader with foresight, empathy, and a deep understanding of local challenges — a true servant of the people who is passionate about restoring hope and delivering the dividends of democracy. “We do not need a bench warmer or a dormant representative in the House of Assembly; Ikwuano deserves a leader who will truly speak and act for the people.”

What Ikwuano needs now is not another serial contestant seeking political validation, but a transformational leader who can drive policies that reflect the needs of farmers, traders, artisans, and the youth. Someone who will not see public office as a platform for profit or prestige, but as an avenue for service and sacrifice.

As 2027 approaches, Ndi Ikwuano must rise to the occasion. The future of the constituency depends on the collective decision to reject political redundancy and embrace a new era of purposeful leadership.

It is time for change. Ndi Ikwuano, the destiny of your land is in your hands and all hands must be on deck’ to salvage Ikwuano!

Ikwuano needs a representative with foresight and bubbles with the interest of the masses at hand and not just a political profiteer who merely comes to recover whatever he feels he spent, directly or indirectly, while vying for the position. Ikwuano needs a leader who feels the heartbeat of the people and will vow to stop at nothing in restoring their lost hopes. Ikwuano doesn’t need a serial contestant who would vow to serve for just a tenure perhaps just to add to his curriculum vitae and if eventually elected, becomes redundant in the house, not knowing nor understanding the yearnings of his people let alone, being able to ascertain a possible solution to their heartaches. It is time to make a change, Ndi Ikwuano!!
