APPRECIATION SPEECH BY CHIEF STEPHEN ABOCHI MPAMUGO.

First and foremost, I’m humbled by the trust and confidence you’ve placed in me.

It’s an honor of a lifetime that so many Ikwuanolites have voted for this vision of unity. Now the work of making that vision is real. It’s a task, the task, of our time.

To those of you who volunteered and worked the polls, you deserve a special thanks. To my campaign team and all the volunteers, and all who gave so much of themselves to make this moment possible, I owe you. I owe you. I owe you.

The Bible tells us that in everything, there’s a season, a time to build, a time to sow and a time to reap, and a time to heal. This is the time to heal in Ikwuano Local Government.

A review of our journey so far is entirely apt. It affords us a look at where we are coming from. However, it would make more sense when we contemplate the future. Whatever our varied perspectives on the contours of our local government’s journey, we can agree that the past years are now firmly in the past, having irretrievably occurred and now belong in the annals of history.

Now that election is over, what is the will of the people? What is my mandate?

Firstly, all unfair events in the past should be buried. Going forward, I believe that, our history does not make us. Rather, we make our history. How? The present and the future outcomes will be a function of what we decide them to be. Therefore, instead of doing ourselves a great disservice and allow ourselves to be shackled by our history, all we need do is, to engage our future by harvesting the lessons of our past and leverage them to shape the future’s outcomes.

Secondly, I am determined to enforce decency, fairness, and hope.

Thirdly, I know I’ve always believed, and many of you heard me say it. I’ve always believed we can define Ikwuano in one word: *Possibilities*. As the local government chairman of Ikwuano LGA, everyone would be allowed to go as far as their dreams and God-given ability will take them.

No one will be suppressed.

I believe in the possibilities of our Local Government and I am always looking ahead, ahead to a Local Government that never leaves anyone behind, ahead to a Local Government that never gives up, never gives in.

I, therefore, call on all denizens of Ikwuano, let us work together. Let’s fly together on eagle’s wings. Let’s embark on the work that God and history have called upon us to do.

Let’s come together with full hearts and steady hands, with faith in each other, with love for our LGA, united and strengthened.

Lastly, the work to be done is not in this writing, but at the council. With this submission, once again, I say thank you for the confidence you have placed in me.

God bless Ikwuano

God bless Abia State.

God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

CHIEF STEPHEN ABOCHI MPAMUGO

(EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN, IKWUANO LGA).
