Hear Lamentations in Ebonyi, Release Igboayaka Unconditionally, FWF Urges Gov. Nwifuru, CP. Anya
There have been clarion calls across the Nigerians, following the unlawful abduction and unwarranted detention of the President of Ohaneze Youth Council (OYC), Comrd. Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, urging the Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru to release the Igbo youth leader.
Among the groups that have the movement for the unconditional release of Igboayaka as well as the emancipation of Igbo land from the incessant killings of innocent citizens is the Federal Worker’s Forum (FWF), as they urged Governor Nwifuru and the State Commissioner of Police, Mrs. Anthony Uche-Anya
Speaking in a statement co-signed by the
Chairperson and Public Relations Officer,
Comrd. Andrew and Comrd. John Ayodele, respectively, the group urged the Governor and the Commissioner of Police, CP. Anthony Uche-Anya to listen to the yearnings of the people and desist from incarcerating Igboayaka, whose health condition is said to be deteriorating consequent on the brutality meted out to him by men of the Police since his abduction.
In the release titled: ‘Release Comrade Igboayaka Now!’, the group decried the action of the Governor whom they accused of conniving with the State police command to repress the activities of the OYC President whose crime, according to reports, was his demand for the Governor to protect the lives and protection of the people he is called to govern.
Meanwhile, famousreporters.com gathered that there had been incessant killings and maiming of the people of Ebonyi State, as well as loss of property under the watch of the present administration.
The release read in detail:
“Comrade Igboayaka, who is the current national president of Ohaneze Youth council, the apex socio-cultural youth organization of igbo youths was abducted/kidnapped by Ebonyi state police command Anti-kidnapping squad in a kidnapper’s way.
“The action to clamp down on the leadership of Ohaneze youth Council resulted from the council’s press conference to call the attention of Ebonyi state governor, Governor Nwifuru to several attacks on citizens by bandits and kidnappers in the state, which have left lots of people dead, maimed and women raped.
“The action of OYC to call for a secured and a well people’s policies didn’t go down with the governor, whilst in connivance with the police to accuse the OYC of spreading false information.
“The governor failing in his responsibilities as the chief security of the state, to secure the lives and properties of the citizen have rather, focused more on his ambitious move to secure 2027 tickets for his second term.
“This anti people’s action and others like: welfare of workers, infrastructural development, and others prompted the OYC to shout and expose the atrocities of Governor Nwifuru to the world.
“Governor Nwifuru of Ebonyi state and the Commissioner of Police in Ebonyi must be compelled to listen to the yearnings of people in Ebonyi state and release Comrade Igboayaka unconditionally.
