HAPPENING: Tension at Onitsha Main Market, as Soludo’s security Operatives kill pregnant woman, 3 others
Pandemonium erupted at the popular Onitsha Main Market, in the business hub of Anambra State, as personnel of the Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra (Ocha Brigade) allegedly gruesomely killed a pregnant woman.
The Security Operatives also terminated the lives of four other people following a violent clash with traders at the Onitsha Main Market.
The incident happened on Tuesday along Bright Street, opposite First Bank, when the task force stormed the market to seize traders’ goods.
Reportedly, the operatives opened a gunfire on the unarmed civilians over a perceived resistance from the latter.
An eyewitness wrote on Facebook, saying:
“Happening now at Main Market Onitsha. Ocha Brigade came as usual to pack people’s goods but the owners refused to allow them, and the whole thing quickly escalated into a very ugly scene when one of the operatives started shooting directly at people at close range. According to the latest reports, two people among those shot are already dead.”

Meanwhile, in a viral video, traders could be seen running helter -skelter in a bid to flee from danger.
A background voice in the 2 minute video was heard saying:
“What have people done to Soludo in this state. Today, 9 September at Onitsha Main Market, You keep sucking the blood of the people of Anambra. On a daily basis, you kill people in this land. What have we done to Soludo in this land? Soludo, pack and go. This is the blood of human beings flowing like the blood of cows because Soludo is ruling us. Professor! See the blood of people’s children, they’ve shot dead four people this morning. Soludo’s security. Eiii! This is an abomination!”
Meanwhile, the video also showed a crowd of aggrieved youths who wailed and condemned vehemently the gruesome killing of the innocent citizens.
As of the time of the press, the state police command was yet to issue a statement in that regard, as calls put across the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ikenga Tochukwu were not responded to.
