Governor Alex Otti in Secret Talks with Oba of Lagos? Abia APC Alleges Desperate Move to Win Tinubu’s Support
The Abia APC Renaissance Group alleges that Governor Alex Otti secretly contacted the Oba of Lagos to seek President Tinubu’s intervention amid growing political isolation in Abia State — despite publicly denying ties with the APC.
The attention of the Abia APC Renaissance Group has been drawn to fresh reports alleging that Governor Alex Otti has secretly reached out to the Oba of Lagos, seeking intervention and “political rescue” amid escalating tensions in Abia State’s political scene.
In recent weeks, Governor Otti has publicly distanced himself from the All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring that he has “seen nothing in the APC that could possibly attract him.” During his last radio programme, flanked by his “carefully selected media aides,” Otti boldly asserted that “anyone expecting to see me join the APC will have to wait forever.”
However, despite this public bravado, credible intelligence paints a different picture. Sources allege that the Governor, believing the Oba of Lagos owes him a political favour, has reached out to the monarch to intercede with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his behalf. This desperate move reportedly comes at a time when the APC in Abia State is gaining renewed strength and unity, leaving the Governor politically vulnerable and increasingly isolated.
“It is both ironic and shameful,” the group stated, “that after months of attacking the President and maligning key APC figures from the South East, Governor Otti is now seeking the same party’s help through backdoor diplomacy.”
The statement continued:
“We are not surprised. Otti has consistently thrived on deceit, propaganda, and political hypocrisy. He reportedly tells his aides that no matter how much he insults the President or ridicules the APC, he can always run to the Oba of Lagos to clean his slate.”
The Abia APC Renaissance Group further reminded the Governor that leadership built on arrogance, deceit, and double-speak cannot endure.
“The people of Abia are now wiser and will no longer be deceived by theatrics designed to mask failure and desperation,” the group emphasized.
Abia, they concluded, deserves transparency, accountability, and honest leadership — not a Governor “who says one thing in public and does the exact opposite in secret.”
