Gov Umahi’s creation of new office is unhealthy to us’— Ebonyians …I’m not embarrassed by my appointment— Laz Ogbee

Ebonyians have faulted the creation of a new ministry by Ebonyi state government led by Governor David Umahi and the subsequent appointment of Hon. Lazarus Ogbee, as the commissioner, describing it as”an undue political patronage which is another method to run state account dry.”

This is shortly after Governor  Umahi had appointed and sworn in the former House of Representatives member, Hon Lazarus Ogbee as the Commissioner for inter- governmental affairs, a newly created Ministry in the state.

Recall that Hon Lazarus Ogbee
who represented Ezza /Ikwo federal Constitency in the national assembly, had contested in the 2019 general elections but was sacked by Cmrd. Chinedu Ogah of the All progressive Congress (APC) after election tribunal sitting at Enugu ruled against him.Governor Umahi who confirmed Hon Lazarus Ogbee today at the Exco chamber, during a weekly live broadcast on the state media house, said he wanted to bring capable and competent hands into the executive council .

Fielding questions from Journalists, Hon. Lazarus Ogbee stated blankly his appointment as a commissioner did not come as an embarrassment rather a thing of joy and happiness.

The former house member described the appointment as a show of love and at the same time, a priviledge “to serve in the capacity of a commissioner especially in the administration of Governor Umahi.”

However, this did not get down well with some well meaning Ebonyians as some who spoke to FamousReporters anonymously, amidst regrets, described the appointment as “an anti-developmental, misplaced appointment; an undue political patronage which is another method to run state account dry.”

Hear them: “The creation of the new ministry which the appointee will serve is unimportant considering the fact that there are already existing ministries and commissioners performing functions related to this new one.”The appointment of Lazarus Ogbee is the duplication of office and functions which is unhealthy to Ebonyians”, they lamented.
