Food Blockade: Ethnic Riot Erupts In Kano State, As Angry Youths Maim Southerners, Destroy Property

Ethnic riot, yesterday erupted in Sabon Gari Kano, as Northern youths were seen maiming Southerners and destroying property worth millions, belonging to the latter, in broaday light.

Reports emanating from Sabongari Area of Kano State suggests that there’s Serious riot happening in the City, a development suspected to be the result of growing beef between Business owners of Northern and Southern Parts of the country.

According to a Facebook post (Video) made by Muhammad B Muhammad, shops are being destroyed and people are being maimed in broad daylight.

The post reads:

This is happening despite several moves From some Governors in the country to curtail the danger posed by food blockade happening in the country. Few minutes ago, Yahaya Adoza Bello, the Kogi State Governor was said to be holding meeting with some stakeholders across the country, a development that was disclosed by Muhammad Onogwu Galaticus, the Chief Press Secretary to the Kogi State Governor.

As at the time of filing this report, Citizens across Tribal lines are running helter-skelter for their dear lives, whereas those perceived hoodlums held sway, destroying property worth millions, belonging to their Southerners counterparts, at will.

“Let the Federal government of Nigeria swiftly wade in efforts to Arrest this situation as it’s replica in other parts of Nigeria could be dangerous.

An anonymous source resident in the area had this to say:

“Ethnic riot erupts in Sabon Gari Kano, with Northern youths destroying and maiming Southerners in broaday light.

“The situation is tense, with non northerners running helta scelta for dear lives.

“The Federal government needs to wade in and arrest the situation, before it spills to other regions of the country.

“May God save Nigeria”, he posted.
