Expedite Release of Nnamdi Kanu, Ohanaeze Youths Beckon Uzodimma

The Apex Youth Socio-cultural organization of Ohanaeze Ndigbo World-wide, Ohanaeze Youth Council, ( OYC) appealed to Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State to accelerate negotiation process and dialogue with APC led federal Government of President Mohammadu Buhari for the release of Nnamdi Kanu.

The Council through her National President, Comrd. Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, described the Gov. Hope Uzodinma of Imo State as a formidable voice for a political solution to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s case with federal government.

Reiterating Uzodinma’s activeness in national politics since his assumption of office as a Senator in 2011, OYC National President, Comr. Igboayaka O. Igboayaka lamented that the continuous detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu since June last year had instead of yielding political solution, rather birthed political instability and crisis confronting Nigeria, as well as political tension.

Speaking with newsmen, after the Council meeting on Saturday 19th February 2022, in Portharcourt, Rivers State’s capital, Igboayaka implored Sen. Uzodinma to disregard all manners of blackmail, criticisms against him and, or his APC led government, by “uninformed IPOB members”, facilitate the freedom of the Biafra agitator.

He urged the Governorship to imbibe the spirit of ‘Onuru Ube Nwanne Agbala Oso’- Be your brother’s keeper, noting that the era of apportioning blames should be abolished.

Speaking further, Igboayaka stated thus:

“Over the months, our consultation and inquiries shows that Gov. Hope Uzodinma has every capacity and political network for the release of Nnamdi Kanu. Just as Justice Benson Anya of Umuahia High Court has opined that political solution remained the only viable option in the case of Nnamdi Kanu with the federal government. It’s, therefore, a call of duty, on Gov. Uzodinma, to put every mercenary on ground for a speedy release of his brother, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

“It’s time for Gov. Hope Uzodinma to disregard every blackmail against him and his government by uninformed IPOB members, but consider so dearly the spirit of “Onuru ube nwanne agbala oso” and see Nnamdi Kanu’s release as his official and social responsibility.

“We have passed the stage of who is right or who is Wrong, our right and wrong should be kept aside to consider the peace of Southeastern, as blame game can’t lead us to anywhere. we must, therefore, arrive at this political solution for the release of Nnamdi Kanu”, Igboayaka insisted.

In addition, the Igbo youth leader recounted that the obvious capacity of Gov. Uzodinma and Prof. Amb. George Obiozor, the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in leading the political solution of Nnamdi Kanu case cannot be overemphasize, adding, “truly these two illustrious sons of Ndigbo know what to do to guide AlaIgbo on the path of peace.

“It’s important that Gov. Hope Uzodinma teams up with certain personalities in AlaIgbo and Nigeria at large to lead and reintegrate Igbo youths and pro-Biafran to national discuss with dialogue.

However, Igboayaka used the medium to appeal to the Gov. Uzodinma to intervene and stop any forceful approach against IPOB by federal government, saying, “I think, this is What M. I Opara could have done if he was alive, he can’t watch Southeast turning to a deserted economic region.

“Gov. Hope Uzodinma should also set a Committee of ‘Panel of Inquiry’ for all killings of Igbo youths that took place in Imo state and beyond since the time he came into power, and design a means of compensation to those that lost their beloved ones, the Police officers and civilians that lost their lives”, Igboayaka concluded.
