Encomiums flowed as the member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North/South Federal Constituency, and Vice President (Africa) of GLOBE International, Rep. Sam Ifeanyichukwu Onuigbo, on Saturday, April 3, commissioned series of projects heà attracted to three local government areas of his Constituency.
The projects included three 300KVA Transformers at Ndoro Oboro in Ikwumbers ofumuano LGA, Agbama Olokoro in Umuahia South LGA, and Umuagungolori Obiohuru village in Umuahia North LGA; two three blocks of classrooms in Unuajatah Olokoro Umuahia South, and Nsirimo in Umuahia South LGA; and streetlights at Ndoro Oboro, Ikwuano LGA.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after the commissioning events, Rep. Onuigbo explained that he attracts projects based on his political ideology of EAR(Effectiveness, Accessibility, and Responsiveness). According to him:
“In choosing projects that we execute, my office has always paid attention to the direct requests of our people, and considering that resources are not infinite, we have always tried to address the most urgent ones with available funding. That was the spirit behind the erosion control works we did at Amachara Umuahia South and the Okwe-Obuohia Road, Ikwuano.
Continuing, he said: “It was also this spirit that led to the rehabilitation of the failed sections of the Umuahia-Ikwuano-Ikot Ekpene Federal road between 2016-2017, and the ongoing total reconstruction of the same road. Being responsive to the needs of our constituents was also what inspired the training and empowerment of 1,500 women and youths on how to run small businesses in November 2020, and the follow up training and setting up of about 100 small-holder poultry farmers in February this year. Indeed, it is the spirit behind the many projects we have been able to attract to this constituency and will continue to be the spirit behind all we do going forward.”
Furthermore, the Honourable Member pointed out that as soon as the implementation of the 2021 budget commenced, his constituents would feel more of his commitment to being effective and responsive to their needs.
He reiterated that party affiliation would not in anyway affect the choice beneficiaries of his projects and empowerment programmes, noting that “I was elected to be the Representative of the people of Ikwuano/Umuahia North/South Federal Constituency and not that of a select people.”
Earlier in their separate responses, the deputy President-General of Ndoro Oboro expressed outmost joy over the
three 300KVA Transformers which is situated proximately the house of a PDP stalwart, and solar- powered streetlights in his community and prayed for God’s upon him.
“It is a thing of joy indeed that this is happening at our own time. Rep. Sam Onuigbo, we’re grateful to you. On behalf of our good people of Ndoro, I want to say thank you, sir. God will bless you. Your emergence as the representative of Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency is not by mistake. We’re proud of you.
He used the medium to appeal to the Member at the Green Chamber to extend his magnanimity to the health sector in the area.
“We are grateful to you and we also want to appeal to you to look into our health. Our maternity is no more in use. We need your help”, he pleaded, while reaffirming their unalloyed support for the the Legislator, saying, we’re in support of you. You’ve done well. I thank you so much for electrifying some parts of our community and I believe that in the same vein, you will also go round the community.
Sir Tony Ezebuiro, while speaking during the commissioning of the school block at Umuajata, commended Rep. Onuigbo for being a friend of the people of Olokoro and Umuahia South.
He described ebullient Rep. Onuigbo as a responsive legislator who has overtime, adding “he always touches base with his constituents and addresses needs to the best of his ability. He’s a man loved by all”, he said .
