COVID-19: Ebonyi government reviews 2020 budget to accommodate  pandemic

In a bid to further accommodate the effects of Corona virus on the state economy, Ebonyi state government led by Engr. David Umahi has made a public review of the state 2020 budget.

Governor David Umahi, while addressing Ebonyians in a live broadcast, held at the  ecumenical center Abakaliki, the state’s capital, pointed out that the approved 2020 budget was hitherto made public for necessary scrutiny by members of the public, civil societies as well as none governmental organizations, before it was approved by the state house of Assembly.

According to the Governor, “the unfortunate decline in global economy as a result of Coronavirus has necessitated the review process.

“In view of the unfortunate covid19 pandemic, which has affected the global world economy of which Nigeria is not spared, before both oil price and daily oil production, fall in IGR, the need has arisen to review the 2020 budget to accommodate realistically, the effects of Covid-19 crisis management, and to resort the  economy bearing in mind the Sharp decline in our expected capital deficit”, he said.
