Chidinma Ojukwu Denies Involving Co-Defendant, Quadri in Super TV CEO’s Death

According to a report by The Punch on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, dramatic developments unfolded at the Lagos State High Court as former University of Lagos student, Chidinma Ojukwu, testified about her relationship with co-defendant Adedapo Quadri in the ongoing case surrounding the death of Super TV CEO, Michael Usifo Ataga.

Ojukwu, who is standing trial alongside Quadri and her sister, Chioma Egbuchu, for alleged murder, conspiracy, and theft, firmly told the court that her interactions with Quadri were strictly limited to “specific transactions” and “had nothing to do with Ataga’s death.”

During cross-examination by Quadri’s counsel, Babatunde Busari, Ojukwu clarified that her dealings with the second defendant were confined to him “supplying me with cannabis and Rohypnol” and “helping me produce my school identity card.” She insisted that Quadri “had no knowledge whatsoever” of what transpired between her and the late CEO at the short-let apartment in Lekki.

In her testimony, the former Mass Communication student recounted that on the day of the incident, she had reached out to Quadri to request additional drugs after Ataga reportedly mentioned that “he had only one stick of weed left.” Ojukwu maintained that Quadri never visited the apartment and was completely uninvolved in the tragic events that occurred there in June 2021.

She also admitted to removing a brown envelope from the crime scene, which she said contained Ataga’s personal documents. According to her, this was done “mistakenly,” and she had informed the police about it during her interrogation at her Yaba residence. The envelope, she said, contained Ataga’s identity card, bank statements, driving licence, and a passport belonging to one Mary Johnson.

Justice Yetunde Adesanya subsequently admitted several exhibits into evidence, including electronic devices and correspondence, despite objections from the prosecution.

The case was adjourned until November 6, 2025, for continuation of trial. The defendants continue to face multiple charges relating to the conspiracy, murder, and theft connected to Ataga’s death.
