Breaking: Veteran Nollywood Actor Irosanga ‘Igbudu’ is dead
The Nigerian film industry, Nollywood, has announced the shocking passing of their member, veteran actor Columbus Irisoanga, fondly called as ‘Igbudu’.
The news of his passing was announced by fellow actress and politician Hilda Dokubo on Instagram.
Hilda Dokubo described Columbus’ death as a heavy loss not only to the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where he was an alumnus but also to the entire Nollywood community.
She wrote, “Our uncle Coli @colu_mbusirisoanga has gone to be with the Lord. Ikoli eh dein na mu.
“There can’t be a shortage of Angels in heaven that the few here are called home like this na! This one is heavy on Uniport, Rivers State, Nollywood.”
Reportedly, the sudden passing of the veteran actor has left his fans and colleagues in shock and disbelief.
Columbus Irisoanga will always be remembered for his talent, dedication, and passion for his craft. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Irisoanga was also a senior Lecturer in the Department of Theatre Arts at the University of Port Harcourt. He obtained his bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD degrees from the same institution.
Meanwhile, Columbus Irisoanga’s demise comes just a few days after the passing of another Nollywood actress, Pat Ugwu, who died at the age of 35.
The name ‘Igbudu’ emanated from his role as the powerful chief priest in one of the movies titled: “Igbudu” in the 2001 blockbuster Isakaba.
Columbus Irisoanga was a well-known figure in the Nigerian film industry, having appeared in numerous movies and TV shows that have touched the hearts of many. His performances were always captivating, and his presence on screen will be greatly missed.
Similarly, other members of the industry who expressed grief while announcing his over his demise wrote:
“It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we report the passing of Nollywood actor Columbus Irisoanga. The talented actor has left this world to be with his fore-fathers beyond, as he passed away in the early hours of today at 1am.
“His sudden departure has left his fans and colleagues in shock and disbelief. Columbus Irisoanga will always be remembered for his talent, dedication, and passion for his craft. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to Columbus Irisoanga’s family and loved ones during this difficult time. May he rest in peace and may his soul find eternal peace in the arms of his forefathers beyond.”
