BREAKING NEWS: Popular Igbo Broadcaster, Ozioma Okereke is dead! Abia NUJ mourns

The entire Abia State Chapter of the Nigeria Union of journalists (NUJ), has been thrown into a deep state of melancholy, following the shocking passing of a popular radio broadcaster, Comrd. Nma Ozioma Onwuka-Okereke.

She reportedly joined her ancestors today, Wednesday, August 27, 2025.

The news of her sudden death which came as a rude shock was disclosed by one of her colleagues, this evening.

Formerly, Onwuka-Okereke a resounding voice at the Broadcasting Corporation of Abia State (BCA ), for many years, was an Igbo Broadcaster, but was later transferred to one of the ministries in the State, where she served before her retirement.
Subsequently, she became the Managing Director of Zik FM, up until death laid its cold hands on her.

She was prominent for her intellectual prowess and passion for the noble profession -journalism.

As of press time, the actual cause of her death was yet to be ascertained.

However, a reliable source told Famousreporters.com that Ozioma Onwuka-Okereke’s colleagues at zik FM disclosed that she merely complained about having a cold earlier.

Meanwhile, late Onwuka-Okereke, a daughter of Abia State served as the StandUp For Women Society (SWS) Vice – President, and won so many awards among which was the Excellent Feedback Award, which was presented to her by SWS.
