In his words: “The Governor of this state, the Ministry of Finance and all of us, we have looked at the issue of payment of teachers’ salaries and we know that we cannot ask people to do the work when they’re not motivated. And we will ensure  that the teachers that we have are adequately motivated, given what is their due, their wage at the right time so that they will continue to put in their best”, he said.

“The government is already making a big plan to make sure that very soon, we will start taking care of their areas. The salaries that are left unpaid, we have to clear them and then make sure that as the new month comes, we will continue to pay”.

“And because we are planning to do that, we also expect the teachers to come back to what they used to be so that our children will no longer go to some places”.

“In fact, when you look at what they teach them, you find out that they just go there to unlearn what they have learnt before. Some of these children, when at home, parents will teach them then when they go to school, they  learn the wrong things”.

He insisted that the looming problem in public schools in the state could only be ameliorated by the teachers, as he charged the latter to return to their drawing board so as to restore the dilapidated image of government schools.

“There is serious problem and we can only solve this problem through our public schools, because the teachers there are qualified. We got a letter from the federal Ministry of Education talking about teachers having teaching qualifications and the need for that and we can only get this in our public schools”.
