The ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has asserted that the main opposition party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has lost relevance in the politics of Nigeria.
This is following the extant leadership crisis surrounding the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) resorted to teasing and taunting the former, stating that it is losing relevance in the nation’s politics.
The remarks, made by APC National Publicity Director Bala Ibrahim, reflect escalating tensions between the two dominant political forces amid a deepening PDP internal crisis marked by factional battles, defections, and accusations of sabotage.
In a recent interview, Ibrahim derided the PDP’s inability to resolve its internal disputes, stating, “Nigeria is still suffering from the rot of the PDP’s 16-year misrule. Are these the clowns people are taking seriously to rule this country again? We’re enjoying the entertainment”.
He attributed the PDP’s decline to poor governance and leadership failures, alleging the party lacks the competence to manage even its own affairs.
The APC argues that the PDP is gradually becoming irrelevant as it struggles to manage internal disputes and political operations effectively
The ruling party argues that the PDP’s failure to address its internal divisions raises significant concerns about its ability to govern effectively in the future.
Amused by the internal struggles of the PDP, APC suggests that the party’s troubles are not only evidence of its poor leadership but also a source of entertainment for the APC.
Bala Ibrahim, the National Publicity Director of the APC, commented in an interview, stating, “Nigeria is still suffering from the rot of the 16-year misrule of the PDP. That party is gone. Are these the clowns people are seriously considering to rule this country again? Believe me, this is just the beginning. We, in the APC, are enjoying the entertainment”.
The APC also rejected any suggestion that it was responsible for the infighting within the PDP. The ruling party clarified that it had no role in the ongoing factional battles within the opposition, particularly concerning leadership disputes. The APC emphasized that the divisions within the PDP are entirely self-inflicted and are a direct result of the party’s inability to resolve its internal conflicts.
As the PDP attempts to regroup and strategize for the 2027 elections, the APC urged Nigerians to reject the idea of the party returning to power. The ruling party highlighted the PDP’s poor governance record and its failure to handle internal crises. According to the APC, the collapse of the PDP represents a positive development for Nigeria, and the country should not consider the possibility of the PDP regaining power.
Meanwhile, the APC amidst sarcasm, urged members of PDP to come to them (APC ) to “learn how to play politics” at its newly established Progressive Institute.
