APC Crisis Deepens: Abia Chapter Declares ‘Ogah Still Suspended’, Backs Nwankpa for National Role
“The Abia State APC has reaffirmed that Dr. Uche Ogah “remains suspended” since 2022 over alleged anti-party activities, stating his endorsement of Governor Alex Otti is personal. The party also endorsed Donatus Nwankpa as its consensus candidate for National Welfare Officer ahead of the 2026 APC National Convention.”
“In a dramatic twist that exposes deepening cracks within the Abia chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), party leaders have publicly reaffirmed that former Minister, Dr. Uche Ogah, “remains suspended”—a bold declaration that comes just days after his controversial endorsement of Governor Alex Otti. The move signals a high-stakes power play ahead of the 2026 National Convention, raising fresh questions about loyalty, discipline, and the future of APC in Abia State.”
The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reaffirmed that former Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Uche Samson Ogah, “remains under suspension” over alleged anti-party activities.

The party made this known on Monday during an emergency meeting involving members of the State Working Committee (SWC) and the 17 Local Government Area Chairmen, held at the party’s secretariat in Umuahia.
Speaking at the meeting, the APC State Legal Adviser, Barr. Virgilius Nwankwo, stated that Ogah has remained suspended since 2022 in line with the party’s constitution, following actions considered to be “against the interest of the party.”
According to him, the suspension originated from Ogah’s polling unit and ward levels, stressing that the party has “not taken any step to ratify or lift” the disciplinary action.
Nwankwo further clarified that Ogah’s recent public endorsement of Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, for a second term in 2027 was made strictly “in his personal capacity” and does not reflect the position of the APC or any recognised party structure.
He maintained that, “as long as the suspension subsists, Ogah cannot speak or act on behalf of the party.”
The legal adviser also emphasised that the Abia APC leadership remains united and committed to upholding party discipline and constitutional provisions.
Prominent party leaders present at the meeting included the Deputy Chairman of APC in Abia State, Chief Chinedu Ihiesulo, members of the State Working Committee, and all 17 Local Government Area Chairmen.
Meanwhile, Famous Reporters recalls that Dr. Uche Ogah, while speaking at an event in Isuikwuato on Saturday, openly declared support for Governor Alex Otti’s re-election bid in 2027.
Ogah stated, “I have said it times without number, and I am saying it again. In 2027, I, Uche Ogah, my family, my relatives, and everyone who loves me in Abia will support Governor Alex Otti’s re-election so that he will continue his good work.”
He added, “Everything is not about politics. I am an APC member, but I cannot deny the fact that Alex has transformed our state.”
Party Endorses Nwankpa for National Role
In a related development, the Abia APC unanimously endorsed Chief Donatus Nwankpa as its consensus candidate for the position of National Welfare Officer ahead of the party’s 2026 National Convention.
The APC National Convention is scheduled to be held on Friday, March 27 and Saturday, March 28, 2026, in Abuja.
Party stakeholders noted that the endorsement of Nwankpa reflects a “collective resolve to present a united and formidable front” at the national level.
