Anyaso Hails Gov. Otti’s Education Reforms, Says ‘Abia Never Had It This Good’

Abia-born entrepreneur, philanthropist and founder of the Ahuoma Anyaso Educational Foundation, Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso, has commended Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, for what he described as far-reaching reforms that have significantly transformed basic education in Abia State.
Dr. Anyaso gave the commendation while speaking as Chairman of the Occasion at the unveiling of the 2026 Maiden Calendar of the Association of Primary School Head Teachers of Nigeria (AOPSHON), Bende Branch, held at the Central School Field, Uzuakoli, in Bende Local Government Area.
According to him, “Abia State has never had it this good in terms of educational development,” noting that the Otti-led administration has demonstrated uncommon commitment to rebuilding the state’s basic education system.
Dr. Anyaso, who was ably represented by the Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Chima Anyaso Foundation and former Commissioner for Environment, Ezeogo Emeka Onuoha, outlined several achievements of the present administration. These include the retrofitting and renovation of public schools across the 17 local government areas, recruitment and continuous training of teachers, the implementation of free and compulsory basic education, and the regular payment of teachers’ salaries, among others.
He further praised primary school teachers for their pivotal role in shaping the future of society, describing them as “the foundation builders of tomorrow’s leaders.” Dr. Anyaso pledged to partner with teachers in Bende LGA through AOPSHON and the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) to ensure sustained motivation and improved welfare.
In her goodwill message, the Education Secretary, Bende Local Government Education Authority, Mrs. Ezinne Udensi O. Nneka, expressed appreciation to Dr. Anyaso for his unwavering support for basic education in the area. She highlighted the establishment of the Ahuoma Anyaso Educational Foundation School, where pupils enjoy tuition-free education, free school uniforms, writing materials, as well as full payment of salaries for teaching and non-teaching staff.



The event, described as a celebration of teachers and stakeholders in the basic education sector, featured cultural dance and calisthenics performances by pupils of Township School, Uzuakoli, alongside the official unveiling of the 2026 AOPSHON Maiden Calendar for the Bende Branch.
Dignitaries at the event included Ezeogo Emeka Onuoha (representing Dr. Chima Anyaso), Chief Okey Ezeala (representing Hon. Frank Chinasa), Barr. Ifeanyi Igwe, Senior Legislative Aide to Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, representing Abia North Senatorial District, Comrade Chinedu Esobe, Chairman of NUT, Bende Branch, political stakeholders from Bende LGA, ward coordinators of the Chima Anyaso Foundation, and other notable guests.
