Abia Govt: Dr. Chinagozi Adindu Speaks On Implementation Of Basic Health Care Provision Fund Program In Abia

In a bid to achieve a universal health coverage in the state, Abia State Primary Health Care Development Agency (ASPHCDA) is set to commence a full implementation of basic health Care Provision Fund Program in the state.

Interacting with Famous Reporters, the Executive Secretary of the Agency, Dr. Chinagozi Adindu commended the effort of the Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu whom he said paid the counterpart fund for the said programme, and assured that the said programme would be of immense benefit to the indigents, as well as nursing mothers in the area.

“His Excellency, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu attracted the programme and paid the counterpart fund. Abia State is the second state to actually key into this programme, next to Oshun”, he said.

Dr. Adundu disclosed that the Agency had received a fund from the Natioinal steering committee of the Basic Health Care Provision Fund, adding “and we have disbursed same to the various facilities which means we are now going to commence full implementation of basic health Care Provision Fund Program in Abia State”.

His words: “this programme is targeted at the indigents, nursing mothers and even those in child bearing age, children, elderly, of course, the less privileged, those who may not be able to afford the cost of medical services”.

He further posited that  intending beneficiaries would, in the course of the programme, visit the nearest Ward Health Centre and be enrolled, noting “and they will be given an identity card with a unique ID number so they can now go to that facility and access care”.

“We have a number of health challenges under the service package, so they will access those services and at the end of the day, the bill will be sent to the state health insurance agency and the agency will pay, not the individuals this time”, he explained.
