In a statement issued on Saturday, Chukwu expressed appreciation for the congratulatory message but maintained that the APC, under his leadership, would firmly play its role as an opposition party by holding the administration of Governor Alex Otti accountable.

According to him, the party remains committed to promoting transparency, due process, and accountability in governance, principles he alleged are currently lacking in the state’s administration.

Chukwu noted that the APC is positioning itself to provide Abians with “a credible alternative capable of delivering good governance anchored on transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness.”

He also stressed that under an APC-led government in Abia State, freedom of speech and the effective functioning of opposition parties would be guaranteed, describing such democratic values as essential pillars of a functional political system.

The APC chairman further dismissed claims suggesting that the party should wait until 2031 or beyond before challenging the current administration.

According to him, residents of the state have already begun questioning what he described as “lies and deception” surrounding certain government claims.

Chukwu cited alleged inconsistencies in the state government’s statements on some projects, including the construction of more than 200 smart schools reportedly valued at ₦54 billion, the establishment of what he described as a “non-existent recreation and ICT centre,” and procurement expenses allegedly involving a single vehicle costing about ₦150 billion.

He insisted that such claims must be subjected to public scrutiny and proper verification.
While reiterating his appreciation for the felicitations, Chukwu expressed confidence that the people of Abia State would ultimately decide the future political direction of the state in the next electoral cycle.

“The APC remains determined to provide a better governance alternative for the people of Abia,” he stated.
