There is pandemonium among the the Governor of Abia state, Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu and his Executives following the outcome of tests conducted on close family members of a late member of the state executive council (Exco) and member of the Inter-ministerittal committee on COVID-19, Hon. Solomon aOgunji.

It would be recalled that the late Commissioner for Environment had evidently died of the dreaded Coronavirus disease, hence the health status of his Survivors and the immediate isolation of the latter alongside Governor Ikpeazu and his exco members.

This is even as Abians express great disappointment in the Ikpeazu’s administration, having been misinformed earlier as regards the root cause of the death of the workaholic Commissioner, who was seen virtually at every nook and cranny of the state, ensuring the safety of the state and her inhabitants.

Reportedly, the Governent of Abia state had earlier refused to let the cat out of the bag thus leaving the people who had brought him to power in the dark, as it was initially alleged that Solomon Ogunji had died following a purported heart failure, up until a member of the deceased’s family took ill and was made to undergo the COVID-19 test, to which he tested positive.

This further resulted in the mandatory testing of the entire family members and the  subsequent devastating discoveries which has left everyone in the fear of the unknown.

Meanwhile, a release signed by the Commissioner for Information, High Chief John Okiyi Kalu and made available to Newsmen in Umuahia, yesterday, revealed that Governor Ikpeazu has directed all members of the committee and those of the Exco who might have recently come in contact with the late commissioner to immediately undergo COVID-19 tests and isolate themselves thereafter pending the outcome of the tests.

The release read in part:

“Governor Ikpeazu who is still in mourning will also subject himself to all other necessary protocols as he has directed his Exco members including the Deputy Governor to do.

“We wish to call on all Abians to continue to observe relevant regulations issued by the government and health authorities to stem the spread of the disease.”
