Uko Nkole Moves To End Ndi Agwu, Eziafor Abam Boundary

Following the subsisting fracas prompted by the boundary dispute between ndi Agwu and Eziafor Abam, the member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Uko Nkole has urged the disputing parties to eschew
inveterate hatred and embrace peace.

Rt. Hon. Nkole gave this charge
yesterday, when he, alongside the Chairman, Abam Council of Ndi Ezeogo and Arochukwu LGA Council of Ndi Ezeogo, HRM Eze Uka Oji met with some delegates from Ndi Agwu and Eziafor Abam, in his bid to broker a lasting peace and prevent further crisis among the two communities.

According to the Federal Lawmaker, the peace initiative was aimed at avoiding break down of law and order consequent on rising tensions between the communities as occasioned by land encroachment.

Ndi Agwu Abam, as gathered by Famous Reporters alleged that an individual from Eziafor Abam encroached the boundary between the two communities as against the order given by the Zone 9 of the Nigerian Police for both communities to step aside the land up until peace is forestalled.

Consequently, Ndi Agwu community upon discovering  that a certain individual from Eziafor Abam had encroached and started farming on the said boundary were spurred into action, hence their resort to use palm frond as a sign of warning to Eziafor that “they should stay clear from the piece of land.”

However, Eziafor Abam argued that the said land where Ndi Agwu had issued a warning reportedly belonged to one retired Soldier who it was gathered inherited the property from his late father who was also  a member of Ndi Agwu Ezies in-council up until his death.

In his remarks, Rt. Hon. Nkole called on both communities to embrace peace, as he appealed to Ndi Agwu community to remove the palm frond and allow the man to farm on the piece of land for the time being, having cleared the said land.

Meanwhile he urged the retired soldier to continue to do as custom demands  for Eziafor community.

In addition, Rt. Hon. Nkole insisted on the cessation of further development by both sides on the disputed area up until the boundaries are properly demarcated and established by the Abia State Ministry of lands and survey as soon as the covid-19 pandemic subsides,to which the people conceded.

Earlier, the Representatives of both communities thanked the Federa Lawmaker for his proactive approach that has put the communities on the path of peace and promised to abide by his decisions, while promising to maintain peace at all times.

Similarly, Ndi Agwu community used the medium to thank the federal lawmaker for facilitating the appointment of one of their son, Mr. Atu Lazarus as Transition Committee Councillor in Arochukwu LGA as they pledged their unalloyed support and loyalty to him and Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu led administration in the State.
