Kano Woman Arrested After Allegedly Severing Boyfriend’s Manhood Over Marriage Plan
A relationship dispute took a horrifying turn in Kano State after a 25-year-old woman allegedly attacked her boyfriend with a knife and severed his manhood upon discovering he intended to marry another woman. The shocking incident, which occurred inside a hotel in Kano metropolis, has sparked widespread reactions as police launch a full-scale investigation while assuring the public that justice will be served.
The Kano State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old woman, Maimunatu Idris, for allegedly severing her boyfriend’s manhood during an attack at Durbar Hotel in Kano after learning he planned to marry another woman. The victim is receiving medical treatment, while police say the suspect will be prosecuted after investigations are concluded.
The Kano State Police Command has launched an investigation into the attempted murder of a man who was allegedly attacked by his girlfriend at Durbar Hotel in the Badawa area of Kano metropolis.
The incident, which occurred on Monday, was confirmed in a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Haruna, and made available to journalists on Tuesday.
According to the police, the hotel’s management reported that Maimunatu Idris, 25, from Maigatari Local Government Area of Jigawa State, allegedly attacked her boyfriend with a sharp knife after discovering that he intended to marry another woman.
The statement read:
“On July 27, 2026, at about 12:50 p.m., a report was received from the management of Durbar Hotel, Badawa, that one Maimunatu Idris, 25, of Maigatari Local Government Area, Jigawa State, allegedly attacked her boyfriend with a sharp knife after discovering his intention to marry another woman.”
It added:
“During the attack, the suspect severed the victim’s manhood.”
Following the report, detectives led by the Divisional Police Officer of Badawa Division swiftly responded to the scene. Consequently, the suspect was arrested, while the knife allegedly used during the attack was recovered as evidence.
Meanwhile, the injured victim was immediately rushed to Abubakar Imam Urology Hospital, where he is currently receiving medical treatment.
Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, strongly condemned the attack and warned members of the public against taking the law into their own hands.
According to him, the Nigeria Police Force remains constitutionally empowered to investigate crimes, arrest suspects, and prosecute offenders through due legal process.
The police commissioner also assured residents that the command would conduct a diligent, transparent and comprehensive investigation into the case before prosecuting the suspect in accordance with the law.
Furthermore, he appealed to members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to assist the police in fighting crime across the state.
Police Arrest Three Over Alleged Fatal Assault
In a separate development, the Kano State Police Command also confirmed the arrest of three suspects, including a 27-year-old married woman, over the alleged fatal assault of Abubakar Auwal, 30.
According to the police, the victim was brutally beaten following allegations that he had been enticing the wife of one Abubakar Ali, one of the suspects.
Although Auwal was rushed to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital for emergency treatment, doctors later confirmed him dead.
His body has since been deposited in the hospital mortuary for an autopsy.
Police said investigations into the homicide are ongoing and assured that all suspects would be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
