It has been a galore of jubilations in Amaoba-Ime Community and the entire Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State, as the Mayor of the Council, Mayor (Evang.) Osinachi Nwaka, in collaboration with the security operatives in the area, rescued one of the abducted sons of Mr. and Mrs. Osinachi Eluwa of Amaoba (Amaba).
Famous Reporters reports that the couple had raised alarm through a Facebook user, following the sudden disappearance of their three children, namely: Gideon Osinachi [8yrs], Devine Osinachi [6yrs], Israel Osinachi [4yrs), all males, on Friday, May 10, 2024.
Earlier, while expressing his deep grief over the abduction of the three siblings, in a release made available to Famousreporters.com, Nwaka, regretted that the children were reportedly abducted while returning home from school in Amaoba Ime Oboro, Ikwuano LGA, Abia State, as he wondered what in the world could be the fate of the poor, innocent children whom he wailed were rather to tender for the sinister.
Furthermore, in a prompt response, Nwaka who is also the Founder and President of New Era Foundation, a non governmental organisation aimed at eradicating poverty from among his people, mobilized all security agencies to initiate immediate efforts towards locating the missing children.
He also informed the general public that, “the father of the abducted children, Mr. Osinachi Eluwa, can be reached at 07037113199 for any information or assistance”.
The release read in part:
“We implore all members of the community to exercise heightened vigilance and promptly report any suspicious activities to the authorities. Your cooperation is pivotal in facilitating the safe recovery of these innocent children.”
In a related development, while reacting to the successful rescuing of 6-years-old Divine, one of the abductees, in an exclusive interview with famousreporters.com, in his office at Council’s headquarters, in Isiala Oboro, Nwaka sternly warned criminals hiding in the Council to either relocate from the area otherwise face the fiery wrath of the current leadership of the Council.
Anyway I want to make it clear to them that no part of Ikwuano is open for kidnappers; they should go to some other states, some other areas because as far as they are around here, our men, the Vigilantes, the Police operatives and our community men will fish them out. We won’t tolerate the kidnapping of any of our sons and daughters whom we mean well for, who we want to train to a higher level of learning.
So Ikwuano is not a place to stay because we will not take that from any of them.
On what led to the chaos and how it disoriented the entire community, the youth-oriented Mayor said:
“Two weeks ago, on friday, I got a call about evening time that three young boys (small children) were kidnapped along Amaoba while they were being aided by their grandmother on a school route en route to their father’s office. It was a bike man that carried the three boys and before we knew it, instead of them coming down from where they were meant to come down, we only got to know that they were missing.
“It has been a sleepless night for all of us. I’ve summoned all the okada riders to fish them out and also all the security personnel, the army, the police, they DSS, the Civil Defence, and the Immigration that we need these people alive.
“So our Intel and every body’s hand was on deck. So God willing, within the last 48 hours, we got a hint; an Intel telling us where they were and I’ve maintained a constant discussion with the man in view who happens to be living in Ekwulobia. So, I had to make the necessary security preparations beginning with my DPO, the CSO at the Government House, and then down to the Commissioner of police (CP), with whom I had an elaborate discussion alongside other security agencies who gave their support and we were able to travel to Ekwulobia. And fortunately for us, we saw the boy there and one of the suspected abductors or the man that is in custody of him. However, what we couldn’t get successfully was the main people that acted as agents that gave the boy to the final person we met the boy with. So, when we tried to lay ambush for them, they got to know that we were around and they ran away, but one good thing is that we got the boy and we got the man that we’ll maintain talk with. So the boy is home while the man has been handed over to the state CID. So, this morning I’m going back to the CP’s office for further investigation with the man whom we know will give us useful information to catch the remaining people that ran away to also enable us to recover the remaining two children which is my main concern.” Nwaka explained.
According to the Mayor, Divine’s recovery was facilitated by a certain man who is a member of The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Renewal aka. Chosen.
Hear him:
“Yes, that’s the choosen man that called us that the boy was with him.
The man said he needed to adopt the child for his church member who could not produce a child, but when the child (Divine) got to his house, the child was saying I want to go home. So, he interrogated the boy and the boy opened up that they were abducted from ikuanno.
“He said his intention was to adopt a normal child he wants to take care of and pay, but I don’t know whether he made the payment, and he found out that the child he adopted supposedly is an abducted child and then he raised alarm. He is in the police station till now because he’s our first suspect.
Continuing, the renowned philanthropist said:
“As the Chief Security officer of ikuanno, i feel it’s just one of my duties but it’s a red flag to the kidnappers that Ikwuano is not a palatable place for them, I won’t allow an inch of ikuanno to be open for any kidnappers, not under the watch of Governor Alex Otti and Mayor Osinachi Nwaka”.
Nwaka who decried the rate of criminality in the area at his emergence in office, warned perpetrators to desist from the act, as he vowed to nip it in the bud before it grows into a full blown disaster, in collaboration with the current administration of Labour party government of Dr. Alex Otti.
“I, therefore, urge the parents to remain calm and hopeful. I know it’s a tough time, they should have that confidence that the remaining two children by God’s grace, with the help of security agencies will be fished out.
And then to evil perpetrators who engage in child trafficking and kidnapping, it is high time they stopped it and found another business to do because Abia State is not for that kind of business.”, Mayor warned.
Narrating her pain and the ordeals suffered by the entire family, Mrs. Glory Osinachi, mother of the rescued boy, while in an exclusive interview with Famous Reporters, lamented that the disheartening incidents which took place on May 10, did not only turn their nights into broad daylight but also threw them into a deep state of despondency.
“On May 10, as they were coming back from school, so they dropped by at their grandmother’s house. So, around 4 O’clock, their grandmother put them in a motorcycle to drop them in my house unfortunately the bike man ran away with them.”
Asked what immediate action she and her husband, Mr. Chijioke Osinachi made upon realising that their children were missing, the expectant mother said:
“We have made several efforts; we went to the police station, and have made public announcements to secure their release.”
Speaking further, she prayed for God’s blessings upon the man who alerted the police in Ekwulobia, upon hearing from the little boy that he was forcefully taken away from his parents.
He knows that he is not the father of this child and that one day this child will want to meet with his real parents so he brought him back. I want God Almighty to bless him.
She also thanked the Mayor immensely for his love for the people, as he unhesitatingly mobilised security personnel to ensure that her child was found and returned to his family, saying “I want God to bless our Mayor for his love his people and I pray that God Almighty bless him and the security people.
“Even the women welfare, I want to thank all of them.”
Moreso, Divine in his traumatic state, narrated that the man with the motorcycle had disguised as a regular cyclist who would convey school children after school but ended up taking them to an unknown destination.
Hear him:
“The time we closed school, our grandma put us on the bike let us go to our house but the brother carried us to their own house. We were three on the bike, me and my brothers”.
“They took us to their house and gave us food but I did not know the food. They allowed us sleep on the floor. My brothers are still there.
In a twist of events, the suspect whom the victim gave his name simply as daddy Sam disclosed that he paid a total sum of #1.6million naira to the abductors whose total bill was #1.8m being the cost of adopting Divine for certain Reverend sister who had contracted him and his wife to adopt a child for them. According to the suspect who says he is a member of The Lord’s Chosen, a member of his church had told him and his wife to help them adopt a child for the said Revd. sister, adding “but when I took Divine home and he wouldn’t take anything we offered him. I began to interrogate him and he told me that he wasn’t an orphan that the Motorcyclist kidnapped him and his brother. He told me he wants to go to his mum so I decided to bring him back.”
