All roads led to Uzuakoli, yesterday, as the Bende Federal Constituency flag bearer of the People’s Democratic Party, in the 2019 general elections, Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso was received by his supporters in Bende Local government area.
The thousands of supporters of Dr. Anyaso who trooped out in mass to give him a hearty reception, at Uzuakoli, poured encomiums on their illustrious son, a clear depiction of their immeasurable affinity.
It would be recalled that Anyaso who is unreservedly loved by the people had emerged second in the keenly contested 2019 general election.
The highlight of the event was the decoration of Dr. Anyaso with the customary George wrapper, a native Machete and the native “Okpu Agu”.
“The Love and confidence our people reposed in you is still very intact and at every turn we will never fail to prove that, he added.”
Responding, amidst euphoria thanked the people for the outstanding honour and recognition, as he used the medium to charge those in elected offices to stick to their promises and ensure the fulfilment of same, while imploring the people to pray for them.
Hear him: “the time for politics is gone and it is time for those in authority to deliver on their campaign promises.”
“Our only job is to pray for those in authority for them not to be carried away by the encumbrances of office, because if they do, it is still our people that will suffer for it.
“I am overwhelmed by this show of solidarity and I can’t thank you all enough”, he noted.
Dignitaries who graced the occasion include, the honourable commissioner for Tourism, Chief Mrs Loveth Adimoha, ASOPADEC Commissioner, Hon. Orji Udeagha, Former Commissioner For Environment Ezeogo Emeka Onuoha, the Deputy Transition Chairman Bende Local Government Area, Comrade John Mark, the Coordinator Abia State Accelerated Rice Production Chief Okey Dike.
Others were Eze Ndi Igbo in Ikeja, Eze Uche Dimgba, a large number of Ndi Eze Bende and
former Deputy Chairmen of Bende LGA, Hon. Oso Onyebinamma, Chief Chidiebere Asonye and Comrade Ifeanyi Ogala among others.
Meanwhile, the event eventually turned out to become a carol and session of Thanksgiving as the mammoth crowd was intrigued by the choral team of St. Augustine’s from Abia State University who sang hymns of praises to God.
