Following the ongoing preparation for the funeral of late king Israel I. O. Kanu  the Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s family and the entire people of Afaraukwu Ibeku, in Umuahia North LGA of Abia  Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Ene Okon has restated their commitment to secure the lives of residents and all those attending the internment section.

The commissioner, in a release signed by the PPRO, Mr. Godfrey Ogbonna urged the public to discard rumours alleging a ploy by the police to scuttle the burial ceremony, while stating that they are determined towards providing adequate security and protection of lives and property.

He, therefore, enjoined residents of the area not to mistake the presence of some security operatives as a threat to their existence rather should be seen as a proactive measures to avert the “infiltration of hoodlums and miscreants into the community”.
