“Stakeholders from Umunna-Ato Ngwa have endorsed former Minister Henry Ikechukwu Ikoh for the 2027 Abia State governorship under the APC, citing his achievements, leadership capacity, and commitment to democracy.”
“Abia State’s 2027 governorship contest is beginning to take shape as political leaders from Umunna-Ato Ngwa have openly called on former Minister of State for Science and Technology, Chief Henry Ikechukwu Ikoh, to contest the election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).”
Stakeholders from Umunna-Ato Ngwa, comprising Isiala Ngwa North, Isiala Ngwa South, and Osisioma Local Government Areas, have unanimously urged Chief Henry Ikechukwu Ikoh, the Coordinator of Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Abia State chapter and former Minister of State for Science and Technology, to contest the 2027 Abia State governorship election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The delegation paid the visit on Friday, January 9, at Ikoh’s country home in Ahuwa Oboro, Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State.
Leading the delegation, Chief Ebere Nwachukwu said the group had collectively resolved to encourage Ikoh to join the governorship race, assuring him of their “unalloyed support” to ensure his emergence as governor of the state.
According to Nwachukwu, Ikoh’s pedigree, leadership capacity, and track record in both public service and private enterprise positioned him as a credible candidate capable of steering Abia State towards sustainable development.
Corroborating this position, Chief Ikechukwu Anyatowu highlighted Ikoh’s landmark achievements and urged him to heed the call to run. He noted the historical and geographical affinity between Ikwuano and Umunna-Ato Ngwa, stressing that “it will be better for us to support our own.”
Also speaking, Chief Gabriel Onyendilefu, former Accountant-General of Abia State, described Ikoh as both a brother and a long-time friend, whom he had known for several decades.
Onyendilefu enumerated Ikoh’s contributions to economic development, including employment generation through Harmony Foam Industry, youth empowerment initiatives, and other philanthropic interventions, describing him as “a round peg in a round hole.”
He said, “I have known Ikoh for a very long time, and he has not only been a good friend but also a brother.”
Responding, Chief Ikoh expressed gratitude to the delegation for the confidence reposed in him and for considering him worthy of leading the party and the state.
The renowned Ikwuano industrialist reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the growth of democracy and good governance in Abia State.
He said he would make his intentions known after due consultation. In the meantime, he thanked the delegation for the confidence reposed in him and urged them to remain resolute and unwavering in their support for the party.
“I appreciate your visit and the confidence you have shown in me. I will make my intentions known after due consultation. I also urge you to remain steadfast and unwavering in your support for the party.”
